Election to the Unley Park Ward

My husband Ted and I have lived in Unley Park for the last 20 years, and we have two children. I decided to run for Council earlier this year to represent residents’ interests, and positively influence decisions that affect our quality of life.

With only two nominations, Councillor Michael Rabbitt and I were elected unopposed to the Unley Park Ward.

I now have the time to serve on Unley Council using the skills acquired in my working life and through my tertiary qualifications (science qualifications including a research masters and a doctorate of philosophy).

Whilst working in the Department of Premier and Cabinet and SA Health in both strategic and operational roles my focus was to deliver better outcomes, continuously improve the way business is undertaken, and optimally use public resources.

As a chair of a board, my focus was to work with other board members to deliver fair and equitable services and equipment, within allocated resources, to people with disabilities.

For the Unley Park Ward, it is important that the character and streetscape of the Ward is retained; the significant loss of tree canopy across the whole of Unley over the last five years must be reversed.

I strongly support the achievement of performance measures to demonstrate transparency and accountability to you, the rate payer. This includes financial responsibility by paying down debt and focusing on essential Council services, whilst also maintaining the liveability and ambience of the area.

I will value the opportunity to provide the Unley Park Ward residents with true, independent representation.
